On Saturday February 1, 2020 Lyman High School Automotive students from Longwood, Florida participated in the Universal Technical Institute Top Tech Auto Skills Competition. Out of 24 teams from all over the State of Florida, the team of Lyman Juniors Tim Bottelman and Ulric Skinner placed Seventh. Each earned a $1,000 scholarship.
For the second year in a row Lyman Automotive took home the top award with Seniors John Tinaro and Alexiss Ward taking First Place. Each student earned a $10,000 Scholarship. John was also recognized as being the only student with a perfect written test score. Alexiss is the first female to ever place in this competition. The Lyman Automotive Program was awarded a Tool box and Tools worth thousands of dollars.
Lyman was the only school to have two teams both in the top ten. In the six years that this competition has been happening, Lyman Automotive Service Technology has placed five of six times. Three times First place, once in Second and once in Third. Congratulations to this outstanding Florida team.
